Mr. Kjaer, Partner, Chairman and Macro Strategist, has over 20 years’ experience in the asset management business. Prior to founding Trient Asset Management in 2011, Mr. Kjaer was President of RiskMetrics Group in New York with direct responsibility for the firm’s global risk management and corporate governance advisory businesses. In 1998, Mr. Kjaer was appointed founding Chief Executive Officer of NBIM, which was established by the Norwegian government to manage its sovereign wealth fund and foreign exchange reserves.
Over his 10 year career at NBIM (1998-2008), Mr. Kjaer implemented a successful investment program and built an asset management team that grew NBIM’s reserves from $25 billion to approximately $400 billion USD. Mr. Kjaer resigned in January 2008 and became Special Advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank through 2008.
Mr. Kjaer is a member of ABP’s investment committee, which manages public and private Dutch pension funds and is the largest pension fund in Europe. Kjaer is advisor to the Investments Strategies Committee and member of the International Advisory Board of Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, and he is a member of the Investment and Risk Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Mr. Kjaer serves on the International Advisory Board of China Investment Corporation . Mr. Kjaer also serves as the Chairman of FSN Capital Partners, a Nordic private equity firm.
In 2008, Mr. Kjaer was appointed a Knight Class 1 of the Royal Order of St. Olav by His Majesty King Harald of Norway for his management of the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund, his contribution to the Norwegian economy and the future financing of its pensions.
Mr. Kjaer holds a master’s degree in Economics and a degree in political science from the University of Oslo (1982). He attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School (2003).
Mr. Syvertsen, Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Trient Asset Management, has over 20 years of experience in asset management. From 2007 – 2011 Mr. Syvertsen was part of First Securities and was responsible for establishing and building it’s asset management business. Prior to joining First Securities, Mr. Syvertsen was Head of Global Risk Management and later Head of Global Equities at DnB NOR Asset Management (2000-2007).
From 1995-2000 Mr. Syvertsen was a portfolio manager focused on allocation strategies with HSBC Asset Management in both London and Hong Kong.
Mr. Syvertsen is a graduate of UBC Vancouver, Canada where he received a Bachelor of Commerce, Finance (1995). He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (1998).
Mr. Loetveit, Partner, is the Chief Investment Officer and Principal Portfolio Manager for Trient’s Global Macro Fund. Mr. Loetveit has over 20 years’ experience in asset management. Prior to Trient, Mr. Loetveit was at NBIM from 1999-2011 where he worked with Mr. Kjaer. From 1999-2008, Mr. Loetveit was Chief Investment Officer Fixed Income and Head of the Fixed Income Department.
From 2008-2011 Mr. Loetveit was head of Global Allocation Strategies, responsible for the management of active risk positioning in a dedicated long/short macro portfolio. Before joining NBIM, he was the Head of Fixed Income at Gjensidige Asset Management and Chief Dealer, Norwegian Rates, at Elcon Securities.
Mr. Loetveit holds a Siviløkonom (Master’s) Degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), Bergen (1987).
Mr. Stenseth, Partner and head of Equity Research and Strategies, has over 21 years’ experience in equity research and investing. Most recently, Mr. Stenseth was Chief Investment Officer, Equities, at First Asset Management (2009-2011). Prior to that, Mr. Stenseth served as the Director and Head of Equities at First Securities where he advised large institutional clients with value oriented investment strategies (1999-2009).
Earlier in his career, Mr. Stenseth was Director and Head of Trading at Elcon (1992-1999).
Mr. Stenseth holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Finance degree from Handelshøyskolen BI, Oslo (1989).
Mr. Lysebo, Partner and head of Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange Research and Strategies, has over 20 years of market experience. Prior to Trient, he spent five years at First Securities AS where he was Chief Investment Officer, working on portfolio construction and providing market advice cross assets. He was also responsible for Fixed Income and FX at First Asset Management and jointly responsible for cross-asset strategies (2007 – 2011).
Previously, Mr. Lysebo worked at DnB NOR Bank as Chief Investment Officer of its Private Banking (2005-2007). From 2001 to 2005, he worked at NBIM in Oslo and London as Head of Global Value Strategies in the Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange department. From 1994 to 2001, he served as Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange at Gjensidige Asset Management and Gjensidige Insurance. Mr. Lysebo started his career in the Central Bank Bank of Norway – in the research department from 1989, and later in the market operations department from 1992.
Mr. Lysebo holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from University of Oslo, (1991).
Ms. Eidem, COO and CRO, has over 10 years of financial markets experience and is responsible for the risk oversight, infrastructure and operational side of the business. Prior to joining Trient Asset Management, Ms. Eidem was the Chief Operating Officer at First Asset Management (2010-2011). From 2008 to 2010, Ms. Eidem was the Chief Executive and Operating Officer at Ferncliff Asset Management, which was acquired by First Securities in 2010.
Prior to that, Ms. Eidem served as the Head of Risk Management, Equities at DnB NOR Asset Management (2007-2008).
Ms. Eidem holds a Sivilingeniør Degree (MSc) in Industrial Mathematics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim (2004).
